Heat has kicked in, we are in the heart of the summer, not the best season to start your Yoga practice; yet, it is the perfect opportunity to maintain and deepen your existing practice!
It is the perfect time to enhance and enjoy your journey on the mat, since the muscles are softer and the body moves more freely.
Soft or sometimes stronger movement will help the body/mind to detoxify and rejuvenate and whether you believe it or not -haha- you will get this profound sense of rest afterwards. This deep rest is what we crave during summer, isnt it?
This idea goes VS the lethargic state of body/mind/emotions, filled with lethargic and heavy foods that sometimes are related with rest and doing nothing.
The deep and real rest comes when all our systems work efficiently-> the physical, the mental, the emotional. The conscious reconnection with Yoga, is a valuable way to approach all of these levels. You consciously enjoying yourself. This means that you enjoy life as it comes.
Hints for a personal practice:
· Practice consistently. If not daily, try to establish a continuity without long gaps in between. Deeper understanding comes only with experience, hence practice.
· Yoga is a long term investment and we should be prepared to practice for a long time to see significant results. Commit to your grownth and development. It is like wearing away the sole of your shoe slowly, walking many miles not in one go.
· Approach your practice with positive intention and enthusiasm. Do you get inspired by it or it feels like a chore?
· It is impossible to practice all techniques effectively at the same time. The many practices of Yoga are designed to meet a variety of needs, abilities and circumstances. Be patient.
